| Filipinos in San Francisco
and the Bay area celebrate Christmas this year with a special
shopping treat as Philippine-made export products become easily
accessible - and affordable - under one roof.
Through the 8th Buy Pinoy (BP) Exporters Fair Goes to San
Francisco, shoppers will get the chance to buy world-class
holiday decors, fresh and processed food, housewares, giftwares,
fashion accessories and fine jewelry. These are normally only
available through institutional sales or in the shelves of
specialized retail stores and outlets in the US, Europe, Asia
and the Middle East.
About 40 exporter-members of the Philippine Exporters Confederation,
Inc. (PHILEXPORT) will participate in the trade fair that
will be held from November 15 to 19 at the Philippine Center
in San Francisco. Their collections have undergone specialized
product design and development programs with assistance from
various local and foreign technical experts.
Using a mix of indigenous Philippine materials and technology,
simple baskets, Christmas ornaments, accessories and housewares
turn to unique collections that can meet any buyer’s
aesthetic and functional requirements. These products have
moved from the low-end to the midrange and upmarket niches,
highlighting the significant value addition in terms of design
and quality.
PHILEXPORT is the umbrella organization of Philippine exporters
as mandated under the Export Development Act. It provides
export development and promotion programs in partnership with
relevant government agencies.
“The tremendous success of the Buy Pinoy Exporters
Fairs in Manila has inspired us to bring the show to places
like San Francisco where there is a major concentration of
Filipino communities,” said Atty. Virgilio Sanchez,
Chairman of the Buy Pinoy Exporters Fair Steering Committee
and Trustee of PHILEXPORT for the Holiday Decors and Giftwares
sectors. “Through this activity, we hope to help rekindle
old ties and enhance the spirit of the Buy Pinoy Movement
especially among Filipinos abroad.”
Buying Philippine-made products helps promote economic patriotism
under the "BUY PINOY, SAVE JOBS" philosophy of the
Buy Pinoy Movement of which PHILEXPORT is a deeply committed
partner-organization, he added.
Other organizers of this 8th Buy Pinoy include PHILEXPORT;
the Christmas Décor Producers and Exporters Association
of the Philippines (CDPEAP); Philippine Chamber of Handicraft
Industries, Inc. (PCHI); Philippine Food Processors and Exporters
Organization (PHILFOODEX). Supporters include the Federation
of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc.
(FFCCCII), Philippine Export-Import Credit Agency (PhilEXIM),
and the Export and Industry Bank (EIB).
