The “Bayan Ko, Bahay Ko 2007” campaign in San Francisco held at the Fiesta Filipina on June 16-17, 2007 at the Civic Center Plaza ended with a high note with the participation of a substantial number of Philippine-based developers and increased interest on the Philippine properties sector by the general public.

Now on its 2nd year, “Bayan Ko, Bahay Ko” is the flagship campaign of the Philippine Foreign Service posts in the US to promote the Philippines as Asia’s primary real-estate investment and retirement destination. It has brought together some of the nation’s top realty developers at the Fiesta Filipina which served as the strategic venue for the Filipino American community to explore investment opportunities in the real estate sector and to re-establish ties with the Philippines.

The 17 Philippine property developers who participated at the campaign were: Ayala Land, Globe Asiatique, Landco Pacific, SM Investments, The Lakeshore, All Estate Realty, GW Architects, Luxurevil, Philtown Properties, Century Properties, New San Jose Builders, Megaworld International, Filinvest International, Shang Grand Tower, DMCI and Eton Properties.

At the dinner and reception to mark the official launch of Bayan Ko, Bahay Ko 2007 held at the Philippine Center in San Francisco, Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez encouraged the Filipino American community in the Bay Area and Northern California to explore the opportunities provided by the Philippines’ top real estate developers by having a first hand look at upcoming real-estate developments in the Philippines. The Consul General said, “The phenomenal growth of the Philippine real properties sector in recent months has provided a new gateway for Filipino Americans to invest in the Philippines.”

Ms. Looloo Fernando-Bough of BalikBigay Inc., a Bay Area based realty firm representing Filinvest International and other leading Philippine real estate companies, said that through their participation at Bayan Ko, Bahay Ko 2007 at Fiesta Filipina, they were able to generate a substantial list of potential buyers interested in the products of their company, many of whom were keen in actually purchasing properties in the Philippines. “We truly appreciate the efforts of the organizers of the event in promoting the Philippines properties sector as one of the channels of investing in the Philippines”, she added.

Fiesta Filipina attendees crowd at the booth of the Philippine Consulate General to obtain their Bayan Ko, Bahay Ko Passport. To complement the marketing efforts of the individual property developers, the Philippine Consulate General devised a Passport raffle draw to encourage the event attendees to visit all the booths of the participating developers. Passports were given out to the public containing the logos of the participating developers. The holders of the Passports were instructed to present the Passport as they visit the booths of the developers. The developers then will affix their initials and sticker on the corresponding logo.
