FVR Holds a Press Conference to Launch “Democracy and Discipline”

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco hosted a press conference for former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos who launched the book, “Democracy and Discipline,” on 3 October 2007 at the Social Hall of the Philippine Center.

The book, written by W. Scott Thompson, who was present at the press conference, and Federico M. Macaranas, a former Undersecretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs, covers the life and presidency of President Ramos, the 12th President of the Philippines.

During the press conference, Former President gave statements on his role in furthering Philippine national development in the local and international fora. He also discussed his participation to the BOAO Forum, the largest intellectual think tank with 28 founding nations as its founding members, and the Eminent Persons Group, tasked to draft the ASEAN Charter, where he was elected as Chairman for a 3-year term.
           
As Chair of the Ramos Peace and Development Foundation (RPDEV), the former President was also in the United States to promote the Philippines as an attractive tourist and travel destination and to dialogue and interact with Filipino-American communities.
