| Sining Palawan Dance Company to Perform in the Bay Area |
|
Consistent with the Philippine Government’s program of promoting Philippine culture, art and history, the Philippine Consulate General is pleased to support Health Ways and the Palawan State University (PSU) for organizing the performance in San Francisco of the Sining Palawan Dance Troupe titled, “Sulyap Kalinangan” to be held on 21 October 2007 at 6:00 pm at the Nob Hill Masonic Center located at 1111 California Street, San Francisco.
The Palawan Dance Troupe, the official dance troupe of PSU, has a remarkable record of excellent performances in various regions in the Philippines and in the United States. Its mission is to promote the beautiful province of Palawan as a tourism destination, as well as develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of Philippine culture, history and tradition through native folkdances and music that reflect the multicultural influences of other countries.
The Philippine Consulate would like to invite the Filipino American community to watch the performance of these young talented students from PSU as they interpret the Philippine’s rich and unique culture and heritage through traditional folk dances and music.
Proceeds from the Dance Troupe’s performance will benefit the scholarship programs of PSU and the Palawan GILAS (Gearing Up Internet Literacy and Access for Students) public high schools.
