SF PCG and CORA Sign MOU
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco and the Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement which sealed the partnership between the two entities who both have the objective of preventing and eliminating domestic violence.

The Agreement was signed by Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez and CORA Executive Director Melisa Lukin on 29 June 2007 at the Philippine Consulate General. It includes, among others, provisions for training and

workshops on combating domestic violence, partnership for outreach activities and CORA Kumares events, observance of October as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” and other commitments necessary in providing assistance to DV victims and their families.

CORA, a non-profit organization, helps victims and families of domestic violence through its shelter programs, in-house counseling, community education, and other support services to foster healthy family relationship. CORA has also extended assistance and technical advice to the Consulate resolving assistance-to-national cases.

In line with its mission to protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipinos
in its jurisdiction, the Philippine Consulate General has pledged to declare itself a community ally and a CORA partner in preventing domestic violence.
