| Sf Consulate Gets a New Consul |
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco has a new Consul with the arrival on 26 June 2007 of Atty. Antonio A. Morales, who came from the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur where he was assigned as Minister and Consul General.
Consul Morales completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics and Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippines. He likewise completed a Specialization Programme in Multilateral Diplomacy at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva Switzerland and an International Relations Course at the Escuela Diplomatica in Madrid, Spain. |

After taking the Foreign Service Examination in 1990, Atty. Morales started his stint with the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1992 as Director at the Office of European Affairs.
He was assigned to the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, Turkey in 1995 as Third Secretary and Vice-Consul and concurrently Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. from 1996 until he was cross-posted to the Philippine Embassy in Rome, Italy from 1997 until 2001.
At the Department of Foreign Affairs, he served as Secretary General of the National Committee on Illegal Entrants, Director of the Authentication Division of the Office of Consular Affairs, and Special Assistant at the Office of the Undersecretary for Policy. He was Executive Director of the Office of Consular Affairs before his assignment to Kuala Lumpur.
In the academe, Mr. Morales taught at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and at De La Salle State University, College of St. Benilde. Prior to his career at DFA, he was also a Senior Correspondent of the Bureau of National and Foreign Information, then Supervising Planning Officer and later Planning Division Chief at the Bureau of Communications Services under the Office of the Press Secretary.
Born in Caloocan City, Consul Morales is a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, a member of the Knights of Rizal, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, Rotarian and the Association of Philippine Barristers. |
