SF Consulate Holds Pre-Departure Orientation for Participants of the 3rd Ambassadors’, Consuls General’s and Tourism Attaches’ Tour

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco conducted a Pre-Departure Orientation for the participants from San Francisco and the vicinity areas of the 3rd Ambassadors’, Consuls General’s and Tourism Attaches’ Tour (ACGTAT) on 28 June 2007 at the Social Hall of the Philippine Center in San Francisco.

Over 80 members of the 130-strong delegation from San Francisco attended the event. They were given a briefing on the tour’s routes and scenarios, guidelines and rules, as well as on security and conduct of proper protocol for certain events of the tour.

Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez praised the active participation and support of the Filipino American community for the ACGTAT. “I look forward to the success of the 3rd ACGTAT, and for many of the participants to be our future ambassadors of Philippine tourism by encouraging friends and associates to visit and enjoy the Philippines,” she said.

Philippine Department of Tourism Director for San Francisco, Rene Delos Santos, who was one of the speakers for the event, briefed the participants on the itinerary of the basic and the optional out-of-town tours. Consul Wilfredo Santos discussed the protocol and security arrangements for the wreath-laying and Malacañang ceremonies. Special Trade Representative Maria Roseni Alvero gave insights on the business meetings that were arranged for interested participants, while Consul Arvic Arevalo provided travel tips. Representatives from Philippine Airlines and Rajah Tours also conducted briefing on airport handling and other tour preparations.

The San Francisco delegation to the 3rd ACGTAT will leave San Francisco on 12 July 2006 via Philippine Airlines. The group is expected to arrive in Manila on Saturday, 14 July in time for the start of the tour.
