Boxer Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton Goes for Number 1 Ranking
Filipina-American boxer Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton will be chasing history next week when she attempts to become the first number 1 ranked Filipina in US boxing history when she competes at the U.S. Boxing Championships in Colorado Springs. The boxing extravaganza is slated from June 2 to 8 and has attracted over 300 of the nation’s top boxers, both men and women. The winner of the men’s draw will have a shot at an Olympic berth while the female boxers will be competing for a national championship.

The preliminary bouts are scheduled from June 2 to 6 at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs Campus, University Gymnasium. The quarterfinal bouts are scheduled for June 5 at the same venue with the Women’s Championship bout on June 6. Ms. Julaton, a 26 year-old Filipino-American boxing sensation will be facing 5 opponents in a span of 5 days in her quest for the number 1 ranking.

Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez in San Francisco is “encouraging all  our kababayans in the Colorado and nearby areas to come out and support Ana in her quest to bring glory and honor not just to Filipino-Americans, but all Filipinos, especially Filipinas.”
